Approximately a one-hour drive to Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus, the best of both worlds are easily enjoyed by our residents. Highland County is named for it’s rolling hills and highland topography. Highland County could be seen as a borderline county. With plains to the north (Clinton and Fayette counties) and edge of the Appalachian Mountains to the southeast, Highland County boasts a variety of landscapes and beautiful scenery.

If you like outdoor recreation, Highland County is at the top of the list! Two major lakes, three golf courses, public hunting lands, and state parks will keep the outdoor enthusiast busy. Paint Creek Lake and Rocky Fork Lake offer excellent crappie, bass, walleye, and catfish opportunities.
